Peruvian lawyer Héctor Cipriano Paredes Robles got into a lot of trouble and could lose his license after commenting on what was probably the biggest oversight of his career: Forgetting to turn off the webcam and start having sex in his office right after participating in a virtual hearing, being observed by the judge who presided over the session and other lawyers. The gaffe took place last Thursday, during a hearing at the Superior Court of Justice of the Selva Central, in the Peruvian department of Junín.
Judge John Chahua Torres, who presided over the virtual hearing, called Hector a “disgrace to his profession”. The lawyer was defending one of the defendants after an operation against an organized crime gang known as “Los Z de Chanchamayo”. The judge stated that “We are witnessing obscene acts that represent a violation of public decency and are made worse by the fact that they are recorded nationally.” Afterwards, a court official confirmed “It is the camera of Hector Paredes Robles.” The magistrate then added, “I instruct the State Public Ministry to initiate an immediate investigation.” The virtual hearing was broadcast live on the channel of the Judiciary Power of Peru.
