Hijab or hijabe (‘coverage’, “hide the eyes”) is the set of garments advocated by Islamic doctrine. In Islam, the hijab is clothing that allows privacy, modesty and morality, or even “the veil that separates man from God”. The term “hijab” is sometimes used specifically in reference to traditional Islamic women’s clothing, or the veil itself.
The most famous hijab in pornography is the three-way incest scene entitled ‘Mia Khalifa Is Cumming For Dinner’ by Lebanese actress based in the United States Mia Khalifa with Cuban Juianna Vega. And apparently the use of this garment was the trigger for Khalifa’s early retirement after threats from the Islamic jihadist organization Islamic State.
Recently Mia Khalifa revealed that she was asked by the producers to wear the hijab in her scene and because she was scared of the situation, she ended up giving in and recording in Islamic clothing. In a recent interview, the former porn actress said that she contested the use, warning that the producers of the scene would have her killed, knowing the weight of culture on top of this piece. Mia even recorded other scenes with hijab, using it or with another actress using it in the scene:
But the hijab has a “tradition” in porn far beyond Mia Khalifa and all her controversy. The hijab is used to show Muslim women being submissive to traditional American culture, often being portrayed as family women, exchange girls on American soil or even being abused by US military personnel on fictional missions.
