More than 3% of the world population has suffered at some point in their lives some type of domestic accident, with women being the most affected, representing 57% of the cases. 36.7% of the accidents tend to occur in the first third of life – up to 25 years – and only 4.5% of the total amount required hospital admission.
Every 24 seconds there is a domestic accident, the most frequent being falling to the floor (44.20%).
The main scenarios and rooms where accidents occur at home are, in this order: the kitchen, the bathroom, the bedroom, the living room and the garden.
