Mia Khalifa, the most overrated pornstar and one of the most popular porn stars in the world, revealed in an interview that she earned just $12,000 during her short 3-month career doing porn scenes when she left the industry in 2015.

“I was involved in porn so briefly, but my stock spread quickly, and I continue to be ranked (really baffles me) 5 years after leaving the industry. That’s why people think I’m still dedicated.”
Mia ranked second on Pornhub’s rankings for most searched stars last year, right behind Stormy Daniels. She was also the most searched star on xHamster in 2016 and 2017. Her tweets were shared to promote her 80-minute interview, in which she discussed the rise of her adult career, as well as the difficulties she faced when she left the industry as a of the most recognizable faces in porn.
Mia was discovered on the streets of Miami in 2014 and made her first film in October. She admitted that when she started out, she naively believed that no one would know that she was working as an adult film actress and it could be her ‘dirty little secret’. When friends of hers started to find out about her work, she made the decision to leave the industry, but she was already scheduled to shoot that week.
Mia was asked to wear a hijab during one scene, which led to international fame and death threats from ISIS. “The turning point, of course, was when I did the hijab scene,” she said. That’s when the death threats from ISIS hit and all the news broke – globally. Not just in the US. It was trending on Twitter, it was all over the news. “I got banned from a handful of countries… from Egypt, from Afghanistan,” she explained. “Very Muslim countries were deeply offended by this, and I am Catholic.” What I exactly said when they proposed the scene was, “You motherfuckers are going to kill me.”
Mia said her family didn’t know she was working as an adult movie star until the clip went viral. “The day after the scene is when everything exploded,” she said. ‘I think I went from 400 followers on Instagram to 200,000 in the space of three days and then continued until I was two and a half million. “That was after I quit pornography,” she noted. “it kept growing and growing and growing – and then my Instagram account was hacked by ISIS.” Mia said leaving the industry was “terrifying” because she didn’t know what she was going to do career-wise. “I was trying to live a normal life and at the same time maintain my persona online because it was financially beneficial for me and I really needed it,” she said.
