Mia Khalifa has finally returned to acting, but not in the way that many would like. The former pornstar, one of the most recognized of all time, won a role in the second season of the series Ramy, produced by the streaming platform Hulu.
The series follows Ramy Hassan (Ramy Youssef), a first-generation Egyptian-American Muslim who is on a spiritual journey in his politically divided New Jersey neighborhood: an Egyptian community that thinks life is a moral test and a millennial generation that thinks that life has no consequences. In season two Ramy finds a new mentor for her spiritual journey. The comedy’s second season will begin airing on May 29.
Lebanese Mia Khalifa appears in the trailer and there is little information about her character in the series. It soon becomes apparent that her participation in the cast is nothing more than a simple marketing ploy to promote the second season. Ramy’s first season was well received by audiences and critics alike, awarding Ramy Yousef the Golden Globe Award for ‘Best Actor in a Comedy Series’.
