Izakaya Hyotan, a traditional Japanese bar restaurant in Curitiba, ended up gaining the spotlight last weekend, not because of the quality of the food, but something that happened after the establishment’s doors closed.
“Woke up to everyone calling me, lots of messages, my crazy dad wanting to know what the fuck was this. Instagram pumping, everyone crazy about the frills, I don’t know how Twitter didn’t come after me. Many messages of affection, dozens of messages of hate and repudiation”, wrote the restaurant in its profile.
The restaurant and bar is run by chef Keiji Mitusnari, who tried to explain the situation in the comments on his Instagram profile, assuring that the images are old:
“First, it’s important to clarify that this bar is much cleaner than a lot of the foul mouths you’ve written here. And that the photo is not current, I was even thinner, I miss you… but no one will believe that”
“Secondly, anyone who has been to Hyotan knows that I live in the back, so that hunger hit… and I went to make a snack, the people came after me asking for my futomaki… yeah, seriously, whoever comes in here knows that this is my house where I receive everyone with open doors, a tight hug and a warm heart (this stop in the photo is only for the most intimate, there is no point in insisting)”,
Keiji Mitusnari also ensured that the bar is constantly sanitized “The bar will be triple-deterified, de-ratized, alcohol-free, dehumanized, envied, disgusted and forever remembered”, and then announced that the establishment will have two new items on the menu:
“Oh, also as requested, I will add two new items to the menu. The Suruba de Gyosa (gyosa at will until you can’t take it anymore and ask for it) and Gastronomic Orgia (tasting menu with starter, portion, main course and dessert)”.
“Due to numerous complaints, we are lining up some things in the house and we will be back to normal schedule! Arigato GOZAMAIS”, he concluded.
