In Brazil, the situation is no different. A survey released by Pornhub – one of the most popular pornography portals in the world, which has been breaking access records since the beginning of the pandemic – the country is the second in the world with the highest proportion of accesses by women on the site, behind only the Philippines. In the report released in 2019, it shows that they were responsible for 39% of accesses.

“I realize that the porn industry has turned its eyes to the female audience. Proof of this is the boom in homemade videos, made by women themselves, which have filled adult websites. But there is still a lack of a more intense convergence, a production that cares about their pleasure”, she points out.
Another survey carried out and released by the magazine Addictive Behaviors reveals that, of 121 women interviewed, 16% said they watched adult content monthly. Among the same number of men, the percentage was 47%.
For Emanuelly Raquel, who leads the ranking of hits on sites like PornHub, Xvideos, as well as Instagram, Youtube, Twitter and Tik Tok, despite the guilt that many women feel when revealing their sexual preferences, the adult entertainment industry has been fundamental for encourage female empowerment.
“The taboo still exists, but it has been decreasing every year. I believe that because of the attitude of many women who consume, produce and disseminate the content. I am sure that the more women explore their own bodies and their own pleasure, the better it will be for building a less sexist society that values women more”, she concludes.
